Hello everyone welcome to another daily Jim today is Wednesday july 27th 2022. And I do want to talk about politics today and what I want to talk about is.

My, the characteristics and traits I hope for in a political candidate, and in this specific scenario, I will be talking about a governor of the state of michigan because I think, there are different skill sets and different traits that I want in people who go into different parts of government, whether it's executive, legislative, or judicial branches and depending on which level that they're going at, if they're going at the national level or ideally some global level one day, or the state level or the local level. And I'm talking about this because there was a primary debate today for the Republican party, for the Republican candidates for governor here in michigan and there's an upcoming election and for, at least for governor of michigan for yeah, us Representative from our district of michigan and a couple of some state elections as well in local elections.

And there's a presidential election upcoming in kenya pretty soon and I'm sure there's plenty of elections all around. Um, so what characteristics do I want to see and why am I talking about this? I'm talking about this because I watched the debate and honestly, I saw a lot of characteristics I did not wish to see. Um, I saw a lot of people seeming very angry um, and very sarcastic in how they were speaking. I saw a lot of people seeming very bitter. Um, a lot of blaming and I saw mm.

I didn't feel a lot of confidence in the people's abilities to do the specific job, which would be the governor, meaning I didn't feel very confident that they've run a very large organization before. Um, or that they've run a they've been involved with government entities before. Um, That they Yeah, anyways, so I think it's much better maybe for me to point out the things that I do wish to see. And one thing, one thing that I was yearning to see in the debates is that I want to see a political candidate, especially going for the high level position of the executive branch. To be curious to be curious to ask questions to learn because in such a role there are so many things to learn. So many different types of people to interact with departments to interact with issues that come up laws that come up, things that change agencies within the state and outside the state to interact with. And I just, I want someone who and expresses so much curiosity to learn and to understand.

Because how many people go into it knowing exactly what they're going to do and even if they think they know what they're going to do. I think things change a lot. So, I think the curia the curiosity continue to learn. Another thing is I actually want someone who.

Huh.

You can pause just going to describe myself. I want someone who can.

Man. I'm stuck on the curiosity. I think curiosity is so big for me. I want someone who is curious about their own experience about the other people's experience, if you're gonna be the governor of the state to not only be curious to the people that voted for you, but the people who didn't vote for you and to talk with experts from all types of levels, not just the expert, political strategist, but also the expert plumber, the expert. Um, but nurse or the expert, you know, just people from all sorts of different levels. What else? I want? People who apologize, who admit when they don't know, you know, who admit when they don't know what's going on. I want people who look like they're filled with hope.

Um, once I want to look at a political candidate and looks like they have some joy in their life. Some joy. You know, I want them to laugh and to smile. Um, yes, to be angry too. I'm not against the feelings of anger. I like anger. I just don't want only anger. Um, I want a politician will get up there and cry.

You know, really expressed grief and sadness because we've lost a lot in these last couple of years. Many of us have lost family members or jobs or hopes and dreams, lots of things have, have gone away from us.

What else? I think. So it's kind of two levers. One side is kind of the emotional side, the curiosity, the joy, the willingness to express sadness and uncertainty and I think the other side is.

The skills to, like I said, interact with lots of different agencies or try to understand what the majority of the population wants by interacting with lots of citizens. Being able to interact with people all up and down the economic level. You know, across multiple races, across multiple languages or at least language backgrounds, things like this. I don't know, maybe I want a superhero to be I think conclude because this can go really long, but I think, watching it, the thing that really jumped out at me is like I want somebody who has the skills to do the specific job which is, being the governor of the state, which is the head of the executive branch, and they want someone who also has the, kind of emotional emotional skills maybe or just kind of the emotional presence that I want to have to go along with that.

And there aren't that many candidates right now across the spectrum that make me feel really excited. When I think about that tenderness. Oh that's it. Maybe that's it. I want a political candidate to be tender. Maybe people will say, oh it's the head executive of the state, that they shouldn't be tender, they should be tough. I think it's possible to be strong and tender. I don't think those two have to I don't think they necessarily can't exist in one person.

I think that you know, the tough and loving. I think a lot of people are too tough and not loving enough. So I don't know. I think I just wish there were a lot, you know, more curiosity tenderness and that.

I don't know this is a lot of rambling and perhaps this is me expressing humility of not knowing what I'm gonna say. So on that note, I think this is quite long for tonight and look forward to talking to you tomorrow. Take care.
