There’s something about waking up to music. I’m not talking about the alarm clock that jars you awake. Funnily enough, I stick with one tune to wake me up so that I don’t associate multiple songs with the “time to get up” feeling. Sometimes it’s joy to get up, but in those cases, I’m typically awake before the alarm.

What I’m talking about is blasting music on the speakers and getting the blood to pump to some serious rhythm. I guess you can get it with headphones, but for me, something is magical about the sounds filling the space around me, almost as if my environment starts to come alive as well.

The problem is that in our homes and apartments, it’s not so polite to blast this music. Our families or neighbors might wake up. Doing it outside is not so polite either, as it may wake the whole neighborhood. However, I’ve found that if you rent out a gym, you can put on the music you want and turn it up to the level you want with no worries of disturbing the peace.

Whether you join me at the gym to blast the music, or you sing it in the shower, or you groove to it while you’re eating cereal — let the morning music move you.
